Canva's Magic Layers come to Gemini
PLUS: Gatsby's robot cleans a home for , and AI models battle it out in competing virtual towns
Google just turned Gemini into a creative studio — announcing that Canva’s Magic Layers, Adobe Firefly, and CapCut are all connecting directly to the Gemini chat interface, so creators can generate and refine visual work without switching apps.
While OpenAI has built the feature with strict privacy barriers, will users be comfortable sharing their most sensitive information with an AI? The move tests the boundaries between AI as a creative tool and a trusted personal companion.
Today in AI:
Gemini adds Canva, Adobe, and CapCut as creative partners
Gatsby deploys the first humanoid home cleaning robot in the US
AI models battle it out in competing virtual towns — and the results are wild
Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads
Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:
After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.
The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.
“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”
Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
What’s new? Google confirmed three major creative integrations for Gemini: Canva’s Magic Layers, Adobe Firefly, and CapCut now connect directly to the Gemini chat interface — letting creators generate and refine visual content without leaving the conversation.
What matters?
Canva’s Magic Layers integration uses Google’s Nano Banana image model to split AI-generated images into separately editable layers — adjust text, isolate objects, and swap backgrounds, all directly in Canva.
Adobe’s connector routes prompts across Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, and Express — bringing over 50 professional tools into Gemini’s chat with no app-switching required.
CapCut (1.2 billion downloads) enables mobile video editing — trimming, effects, transitions, and auto-captions — all through conversational prompts inside Gemini.
Why it matters?
The biggest friction in AI-assisted creative work has been the gap between generating content and editing it in professional tools. These integrations close that gap, turning Gemini into a single interface for end-to-end creative production.
GUIDE
What’s new? San Francisco startup Gatsby completed the first humanoid robot home cleaning for a paying U.S. customer — dispatched via an iOS app at a flat $150 per session, undercutting professional cleaning services that typically charge $150–$300.
What matters?
Gatsby is robot-agnostic: it builds the consumer booking and operations layer, not the hardware, meaning it can swap in any humanoid robot as the technology improves.
The first customer was selected randomly from Gatsby’s SF waitlist — the company books cleanings through a standard iOS app and plans to expand to additional US cities soon.
While the robot handles routine cleaning tasks autonomously, more complex situations are supported through human teleoperation — a hybrid approach that improves reliability in real-world environments.
Why it matters?
Humanoid robotics has been a demo sport until now. Gatsby’s paid, app-booked cleaning service is the first proof that humanoid robots can operate as a real consumer business — and its platform-over-hardware model could accelerate adoption faster than companies selling hardware alone.

Hiring in 8 countries shouldn't require 8 different processes
This guide from Deel breaks down how to build one global hiring system. You’ll learn about assessment frameworks that scale, how to do headcount planning across regions, and even intake processes that work everywhere. As HR pros know, hiring in one country is hard enough. So let this free global hiring guide give you the tools you need to avoid global hiring headaches.
What’s new? Emergence AI launched a multi-model town simulation where five identical virtual towns were each run by a different AI model — Claude, Grok, GPT-5 Mini, Gemini, and a mixed-model town — revealing stark behavioral differences between the systems.
What matters?
Claude’s town recorded zero crimes, with all agents alive and 332 community votes cast — while Grok’s town had 200+ crimes and all agents dead by day four.
Gemini’s virtual residents racked up 683 crimes before relationships turned destructive and chaos escalated beyond recovery, and GPT-5 Mini’s agents committed just two crimes but starved within seven days.
The mixed-model town logged 352 crimes — and Claude’s normally peaceful behavior shifted when placed alongside other models, suggesting AI alignment is partly a function of environment.
Why it matters?
The experiment isn’t just a leaderboard — it’s a window into how differently today’s frontier models approach social cooperation, resource allocation, and conflict. As AI agents get embedded in real workflows and agentic systems, these behavioral differences will matter far beyond a virtual town.
