GUIDE
What’s new? At its fourth annual upfront on May 13, Netflix announced its ad-supported tier now reaches 250M+ global monthly viewers — and unveiled AI agents that can manage, optimize, and autonomously purchase ad campaigns.

Netflix is extending programmatic buying to pause ads and live programming, with Amazon DSP targeting activating across all ad-supported countries by June 1.
The ad tier expands to 15 new countries in 2027 as Netflix targets ~$9B in ad sales by 2030.
Why it matters?
"Buying Netflix" is about to look a lot more like an API call than a media plan.

What’s new? Thinking Machines, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, unveiled a new class of native multimodal systems called "interaction models" — designed to listen, see, and respond in real time without the turn-taking pauses of current voice AI.
What matters?
The flagship TML-Interaction-Small is a 276B-parameter MoE model that processes audio and video in 200ms micro-turns, hitting sub-0.4s latency — faster than Google's Gemini 3.1 Flash and OpenAI's GPT-Realtime 2.0 on the FD-bench.
"Encoder-free early fusion" feeds raw audio and visuals straight into the model; an asynchronous background model handles deeper reasoning so the conversation never pauses.
The launch is positioned as a direct challenge to OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic — arguing that wrapping a turn-based LLM in a real-time harness is a dead end.
Why it matters?
Every voice AI you've used is a turn-based model wearing a real-time costume. If interactivity belongs in the architecture itself, the current generation of voice products may need rebuilding from the foundation up.
